Sacramental Preparation

Sacramental Preparation

The children receive religious instruction which helps them understand the sacrament, its meaning, and prepares them for the commitment of faith.

Helping Families Celebrate God’s Grace Through the Sacraments

At St. Catherine of Siena Church, we joyfully accompany children and families as they prepare to receive the sacraments of First Reconciliation, First Holy Communion, and Confirmation. These sacred milestones are moments of grace and profound encounter with Christ and His Church.

Our Sacramental Preparation programs are designed to help children grow in their understanding of the Catholic faith, develop a personal relationship with Jesus, and become active participants in the life of the Church. With the support of catechists, clergy, and parents, children learn the meaning of each sacrament and how to live a life rooted in prayer, community, and service.

Preparation includes:

First Reconciliation & First Holy Communion (typically Grade 2 or 3):

  • A two-year preparation journey focused on God’s mercy, the gift of the Eucharist, and the importance of full participation in Mass.

Confirmation (typically Grades 7–8):

  • A deepening of baptismal grace through learning about the Holy Spirit, the life of the Church, and what it means to be a fully initiated Catholic disciple.

Requirements:

  • Active participation in our Religious Education Program
  • A copy of your child’s Baptismal certificate
  • Attendance at parent meetings and sacrament workshops
  • Regular Sunday Mass attendance as a family
  • Completion of required classes, retreats, and service projects

We look forward to walking with your family as you prepare for these joyful and grace-filled moments.

May this time of formation be a blessing to your child and an opportunity for the whole family to grow closer to Christ

and His Church.

Eucharist

(or Holy Communion) is the sacrament where the faithful partake in the Body and Blood of Christ, nourishing their spiritual lives and deepening their union with him.

Confirmation

Strengthens and deepens the gifts of the Holy Spirit received at Baptism, empowering believers to live out their faith more fully.
