Anointing of the Sick

What is Anointing of the Sick?

The Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick offers spiritual strength, peace, and healing to those who are seriously ill, preparing for surgery, elderly, or facing a medical emergency. It is a powerful encounter with Christ, who brings comfort and grace in times of suffering.

This sacrament is not only for those near death but for anyone in need of healing—physically, emotionally, or spiritually. Through prayer, laying on of hands, and anointing with blessed oil, the Church continues Christ’s ministry of compassion and care.

“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and God of all encouragement, who encourages us in our every affliction…”
2 Corinthians 1:3–4
